I had a BLAST this past weekend at the Mixed Conference! OH MY!! I can't wait to tell you all about it!
I really, really, want to tell you... just not right now.
Ok, Ok... I'll tell ya about Duff Goldman!
Duff Goldman from Charm City Cakes, Ace of Cakes, and the New Charm City Cakes West!
Have you heard of this cake decorating god?
Duff Goldman from Charm City Cakes, Ace of Cakes, and the New Charm City Cakes West!
Have you heard of this cake decorating god?
I was lucky to have gotten a spot to decorate cake with Duff on an 8 to 1 basis. It was a bit overwhelming and I think everyone was a bit awe struck and didn't want to look like a goofball and ask for autographs and photographs... so... there wasn't much of that going on :(
We walked into the room and it was FILLED with Duff Decorating stuff by Gartner Studios! And I mean FILLED!
There was fondant, icing, sprays, pens, rollers, cutters, decorations, and two air brush machines. Everyone was expecting a "lesson" on decorating cakes, but Duff was just like, "Here's the supplies, go for it!"
The great thing is that everyone's cake was different.
One thing I did learn, is that it's hard to decorate a cake in one hour if you don't have a plan!
Here I am with Duff and there is Heather getting some help from him.
It was an awesome 60 minutes spent with him!
The weekend left me completely exhausted and I really wanted something simple and easy to whip up for ya.... Welcome, Fun-da-Middles!
I've dressed up a few of these before. Last Christmas, I made some Candy Cane Fun-da-Middles for ya. This year, I'm going with Cinnamon!
I found the pretty paper liners at Ross. I love looking for off the wall things at Ross and at TJ Max. Does anyone else get great candies and sprinkles there as well??
Also, just the simple addition of Cinnamon, good quality, Saigon Cinnamon (the kind they use at Cinnabon) to your cream center is the perfect way to add a fun twist to the vanilla cupcakes.
Nothing says Cinnamon like RED! And if you are planning to make red frosting, you need to make it the day before and use good quality red gel or powder food coloring. The red color will develop overnight and look better the next day. Just let it set at room temperature to soften and then beat in the cinnamon flavor before icing your cupcakes.
Or, if you are lazy, buy pre-made Red Frosting. Like This from the Duff Goldman line.
Or... You could enter to win this three pack of frosting just in time for Christmas!
