Yep! That's me! Participating in THE Online BlogCon. At home at my Kitchen table. Comfy and cozy.
As soon as I heard about the Online Blog Conference from Dorothy, I immediately signed up for it. Like, right then and there! Boom! Put my name down!
Dorothy from Crazy for Crust and Ashton from Something Swanky were looking for people to help promote the Conference by listing Giveaways and mentions on FB and Twitter. I was happy to oblige and thought it was a great way to meet new Bloggers.
To my complete delight, the ladies did a wonderful job with Sponsors, Networking, Guest Posts, and, above all, uniting bloggers from all over.
It seems that we all feel like little fish swimming around a HUGE Blog Pool and we are all too scared and insecure to reach out and make friends with strangers. At least, that's my story. When the FaceBook Group was established, I knew that this was a safe place for me to reach out and make contact and learn from other ladies and provide some of my own lessons learned to the newbies.
During the three days of the actual conference, my mother was in town visiting. It was hard to juggle everything, so the conference was put on the back burner. I was so glad that I didn't HAVE TO attend on the exact days. Since it was all online, I could check-in and read a post when I had a few minutes to spare. And I caught the highlights in the FaceBook Group that night on what I missed. It was great!
Since the Conference, I've learned a few (very) important things!
1. My Replies to comment on Blogger are NOT sent to the commenter. I am very sorry if you have felt like I ignored your comments and questions. I have responded to a majority of comments, but I did not know that you were not getting an e-mail with the response. I've been responding to the e-mails, so you'll be getting responses from me from now on.
2. How to enter a Photo and get accepted on Food Gawker. I followed the advice and guess what - it worked! My first recipe was accepted! I was over the moon! There are so many other recipe sharing sites that I am going to submit to. I'm looking forward to more sharing :)
3. How to reach out to companies and gain sponsorship. This I still have to work at, however, I feel a bit more confident with the new tools and knowledge I now have.
I'd like to say Thank you to the Awesome Guest Speakers:
Jessica from How Sweet It Is, Christi from Love From The Oven, Shelly from Cookies & Cups, Camille from Six Sisters' Stuff, Nikki from Chef in Training, Lexie from voiceBoks, Jamielyn from I Heart Nap Time, Kristyn from Lil' Luna, and Stephanie from Somewhat Simple.
And Thank you to the Wonderful Sponsors:
Silpat, Simply Sweet Creations, Kitchen Meets Girl, My Memories, Vint Print, Six Sisters Stuff, Hello Love Designs and Hello Love Too, Kitchen Knead, Naptime Creations, Pearls and Petals, Primula, and William Bounds.

ReplyDeleteLoved your post. A great idea to list out what actions you have taken since the conference. I have a dumb question though. I was under the same impression with the blogger comment thing. So I want to change the way I reply also. But, how do you figure out the email address so you can follow up that way

ReplyDeleteI may have to plan on joining next years Online BlogCon, it sounds great! Congrats on the FoodGawker feature. I have made it on CraftGawker but not FoodGawker yet. So far they have been unimpressed by my photos. The photo of your Ginger Snap - Lime Butter Cream Cookies looks great! Have a wonderful week :)
