Homemade Gummy Candy

My Kid is a Gummy Freak!

She loves all the little packets of Tinker Bell, Cars, Fairies, whatever...
If she wants a snack, she's heading for the gummy candies.
I do try to but the "All Fruit" a.k.a. "Healthy" Gummies for her. She loves them all.
Even her vitamins are gummies.

So, when I saw this cute post, I knew I had to make some treats for my kiddo.

My Little Cup was thrilled!! She was so excited to help me in the kitchen to make these treats. I was just going to make red and yellow, but she talked me into making the purple one as well.
The things we do for our children...

Step 1. We got our Flavored and Unflavored Gelatin
Step 2.We got our molds together.
Step 3. We boiled some water to melt the gelatin.
Step 4. We poured it into molds.
Step 5. We waited for them to cool and solidify.

Then we enjoyed them!

I really liked how the two tones ones came out.
For the Starfish and the flowers, I kinda painted the red in first.
When I made the yellow, I just poured  the yellow over the red and it came out great!
I loved the two colors in the flowers. I wish that I had planned a bit better and did all the flowers like this.

    1. I don't know, but I would like to find out. I'm sure they would. If they are not "gummy" enough you can add another packet of unflavored gelatin. Please let me know if you give it try.

  15. These are adorable! My husband (believe it or not) loves gummies and airplanes and it would be cool to make him some airplane ones. Do they have to be refrigerated after making? :-)

    1. I did not refrigerate them. I added a bit more cornstarch to them and left them in a baggie on the counter. They do not melt if that's what you are worried about.

  17. i was just telling the kids i was going to try making homemade gummy treats and yours look great!!! are they ok to pick up without being too sticky?

    ReplyDelete

    1. You do need to add something to them so they do not stick. I actually had Arrowroot on hand and used that in place of cornstarch. I kinda figured most people are more familiar with cornstarch over arrowroot. I'm sure the kids can eat up one box worth in the day. I made 3 boxes and had a lot to share.

  35. These look really easy to make. I just got a candy mold to make things for my son's upcoming birthday party, and I might just have to give these a try!

  36. Wow, these are great! I love, love, LOVE gummy candy so am surprised to see just how easy they are to make yourself. I don't think I'll ever be buying Haribos ever again now. One question though, you used Jello which is what I think Jelly is over here. When you bought the Jello does it come as a powder or as jelly chunks which you put into boiling water and then a jelly mold and leave to set [to make the dessert]?

I'm curious to know which type it is. I already have regular powdered unflavoured gelatin too. Need me some candy molds though since I want to make these and hard candy lollipops.

    Thanks for stopping by too.
