I've been wanting to share this for a while. I've made this Monkey Bread a few times and I always love it! This is a great dish to share at family gatherings and Sunday Brunch. Everyone loves it and there is always enough to go around. Make it from scratch the day before and pop it in the oven in the morning and enjoy some family time while it cooks.
I've left it plain, I've added nuts, I've added fruit, and my favorite variation is Cinnamon Walnut Apple. It's like a mini-apple pie baked in. So good!!
I've followed Recipe Girl's recipe here and it has not let me down.
Before I start the dough, I prepare the apples and walnuts.
1 apple
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
few drops of lemon juice
Chop up the apple and mix together with the sugar, spices and walnuts. Set aside to get juicy.
Follow her recipe and while adding the dough balls into the bundt pan, add in a few spoons of the apple mixture as you add your dough.
If you are prepping the night before, cover with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge and allow it to rise over night.
In the morning, let it come to room temperature - takes about 20 - 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 deg F and bake for 30 minutes.
Look at all those yummy apple and walnut chunks in there! So good!
Flip the pan over on to a serving dish and make the glaze. While the Monkey Bread is still hot, drizzle the glaze over and serve up!
Mmmm-Mmmmm!
This was so good!! Think I'll make some this weekend - again!!

This looks and sounds delicious, but could the amount of melted butter be right? 3 1/2 sticks?
ReplyDeleteYes. 1 3/4 cups of melted butter. You have to dip 60 dough balls into the butter. It goes very quickly. I had to melt some extra!
